ATTO 3 Superior vs EV3 Light SR: last-run equipment or a smaller NZ family EV?
Superior offers documented comfort and parking kit; Light SR brings a shorter body and an eligible October ownership package. Compare the actual cars and delivered quotes.
Start with Superior for useful equipment; try EV3 for its smaller footprint
I would inspect the remaining ATTO 3 Superior first if heated front seats, a powered tailgate and a surround-view camera are equipment you will use every week. I would start with EV3 Light SR if its shorter body makes your parking or family routine work better, and you are content with manual cloth seats and a reversing camera. A newer model does not automatically include more equipment at its entry grade.
Both are five-seat, front-wheel-drive battery electric cars. Both need a dependable place to charge. The useful question is whether a particular last-run Superior or a current Light SR performs the daily tasks better for its complete delivered price. We have not driven, charged or loaded the cars together.
Bayswater's exact Superior listing currently asks NZ$49,990 plus ORC. Kia's Light SR has a NZ$55,520 MRP including GST, with separate eligible October-December ownership terms. Those amounts do not yet give us two matched delivered quotations, or establish a lifetime saving.
The listed Superior is the earlier ATTO 3, rather than an EVO
The Bayswater page identifies new stock 211007, 20 km, white, front-wheel drive and VIN LGXCE4CB8S2211007. It describes a final run of Superior cars and says available now. The listing's 2026 title is its sales label: we have not independently decoded the production date or model year. Ask whether this exact unit remains unregistered and available before arranging collection or leaving a deposit.
Its identity follows the NZ ATTO 3 sheet dated 1 February 2026: Superior has a 60.48 kWh Blade battery and 150 kW motor. It is not an overseas EVO with rear-wheel drive, a different voltage platform or a stronger charging figure. A review of the newer car cannot complete this purchase.
Kia's current NZ specification columns identify Light SR with a 58.3 kWh gross NCM battery, 150 kW motor and front-wheel drive. Light LR, Earth and GT-Line are different selections. The linked March 2025 brochure corroborates the SR technical figures, while the current page supplies today's promotion and grade equipment. Neither allocates an individual Kia or proves its build date.

Keep the two actual grades beside the figures
Use this table to plan the same demonstration in both cars. The dimensions are published body measurements, not usable garage clearances. The equipment entries concern these grades; a photograph of a higher Kia version is not part of Light SR's order.
A smaller body can make the space around a parked car easier to manage. More included comfort equipment can be valuable on a routine you repeat. Neither matters if the passengers, restraints or luggage do not fit the way you need.

Complete the delivered quotes before subtracting the headline amounts
The Bayswater listing gives NZ$49,990 plus ORC and defines on-road costs as registration, WOF, pre-delivery inspection, applicable RUC and dealer delivery charges. It asks buyers to confirm price and inclusions. Get those line items for the identified unit, along with paint, accessories and collection or transport. An available-now label is not a reservation.
The February BYD specification sheet contains an older NZ$55,990 Superior reference. It remains a dated document, rather than proof of today's national price. The current NZ$49,990 stock amount identifies this offer; it does not establish a dealer-exclusive discount or today’s national price. What matters for this decision is the actual current proposal and its inclusions, not recovering a larger discount from an older table.
For the Kia, start with the specified Light SR and ask whether the chosen vehicle qualifies for the current ownership package. Compare the two completed GST-inclusive totals, with any separately chargeable items identified. We have not obtained those proposals and do not subtract the two headlines as a guaranteed delivered-price difference. A trade-in or finance arrangement should be priced separately.
Kia’s current package requires registration within October-December
Kia's current written terms include $0 on-road costs, 15,000 km of RUC and a $0 three-year/45,000 km service plan for eligible EV-range vehicles. Registration must occur from 1 October to 31 December 2026, while stocks last. The offer excludes demonstrators, government, used, fleet and rental purchases, cannot be combined with another special offer, and Kia reserves the right to change or withdraw it.
Ask the seller to confirm the proposed Light SR's eligibility in writing and show which services and licensed distance are included. The service plan's 45,000 km is not the amount of included RUC. Nor is included road-use distance a cash payment that we can deduct from the invoice without checking its use and conditions.
Older July-September advertising offered a different motoring package. Do not carry that expired RUC or charging-voucher offer into an October contract. If the car cannot be registered within the current period, obtain replacement written terms. The promotion's deadline should not persuade you to skip the family and charging checks.
Try the smaller Kia in the parking space, then test both with the family
The published lengths make EV3 Light SR 155 mm shorter than the ATTO 3 sheet's 4,455 mm. Its stated body width is 25 mm less. Those are simple subtractions of declared dimensions, not measurements of turning ability, mirror width or room around an open door. Include the approach, pillars, door swing and charging-cable position in a parking demonstration.
The ATTO 3's surround-view camera is worth demonstrating if close spaces are a daily problem. Light SR's current table lists a reversing camera and front/rear sensors, rather than the surround-view system of higher Kia grades. That difference does not tell us image quality or whether the shorter body is easier for you. Try the cameras in daylight and poorer light during an appropriate demonstration.
Set the front seats for the regular adults, then install the actual child restraints and check the other passenger positions. Both have five nominal seats; that is not a promise of three-across restraint fit. The longer ATTO 3 wheelbase also does not prove better knee room. Access, buckle reach and the view from the driver's seat can change the answer more than a specification advantage.
Superior includes comfort features that Light SR does without
The Superior column marks heated front seats, powered driver and front-passenger adjustment, a panoramic opening roof and a one-touch powered tailgate. The current Light SR column specifies cloth trim and manual front-seat adjustment. It does not include heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, powered tailgate or heat pump. Earth and GT-Line equipment should not appear in a Light SR comparison by implication.
These are reasons to try the actual cars. Warm seats may be more useful to one household than a larger screen; another may prefer a particular seating position and simple controls. Operate the climate system, phone connection and tailgate while stationary. Check whether the supplied equipment works the way you expect, rather than deciding from the number of ticks in a table.
The BYD sheet lists 440 litres minimum luggage space, while Kia states 460 litres VDA with seats up and a separate 25-litre front compartment. A common measurement and loading arrangement has not been established, so we do not award a luggage winner. Load the same pushchair, bags and cable with the needed passenger seats occupied, close the tailgate and check access to charging equipment afterwards.
436 versus 420 km WLTP is not a measured holiday-range result
The BYD sheet declares 420 km WLTP combined for Superior. Kia gives 436 km WLTP combined for Light SR. Compare the matching WLTP labels, without swapping in a different test cycle or Kia's Light LR range. Neither declaration measures your loaded trip in winter or your preferred motorway speed.
Kia lists up to 10.5 kW on-board AC input and approximately 29 minutes from 10 to 80% on suitable DC equipment up to 100 kW. The selected BYD sheet lists 88 kW DC but does not establish a comparable timed window or the complete AC specification here. A difference in peak ratings cannot tell us the whole stopping time. Ask for the actual car's specification and charging instructions, including preparation and battery-temperature conditions.
For normal use, prove the charging arrangement where the car stays. Check permission, installation, supply and a useful fallback; an AC rating is not a promise that your home delivers it. For a recurring longer route, identify accessible chargers and an alternative before assuming either car completes the journey with the margin you want. We have not conducted a common charge session or route test.
Included RUC is useful only within a complete ownership plan
Both cars are BEVs, so the comparison needs actual charging tariffs, kilometres, applicable road-use licences and transaction costs. Ask how much licensed distance comes with each delivery and when the Kia benefit can be used. We have not verified a current numerical RUC rate for this article and do not convert its package into a promised annual saving.
The stock page's annual energy-cost illustration uses its own electricity price and distance assumptions. It is not your bill, a forecast against Light SR or a payback calculation. Use bought electricity including charging losses, an installation quote, insurance, tyres and maintenance if you want to build a personal budget.
Obtain current warranty booklets for the individual vehicles, confirm when coverage starts and identify the workshop responsible. Check what the service package covers and what remains payable. We do not have a matched sample of repair delays, failures or resale values for these cars; a last-run model and a newer design each require that practical support check.
China-side evidence
Keep the final-run specification separate from newer and overseas cars
An overseas ATTO 3 EVO review cannot establish this FWD Superior's charging or equipment. The current local stock identity and NZ dated sheet describe the selected older generation. Likewise, a review of EV3 Earth or GT-Line cannot add their seat heating, cameras or heat pump to Light SR.
Manufacturer assistance lists are not independent crash results or a promise that the car avoids every collision. Check the applicable safety assessment, model date and equipment if that is part of the decision. For a demonstration, use the controls normally and safely; do not provoke emergency interventions on public roads.
Owner reports, complaint records and recall notices from the Chinese market, each with the source and the date we read it. Sample sizes are small; read them as signals, not survey results.
Make the choice around the benefit you can demonstrate
Proceed with the identified Superior if its equipment makes a useful daily difference, it passes the same family and parking tasks, and the complete stock proposal is acceptable. Proceed with Light SR if its smaller footprint and actual cabin work better, the entry equipment is sufficient and the delivered proposal plus eligible ownership package suits you. If dependable charging remains unresolved, revisit the wider powertrain choice through the New Zealand comparisons before committing.
This is documentary research of local sources read on 19 October 2026. The ATTO 3 PDF retains its 1 February 2026 date and the Kia brochure its March 2025 date; current sales pages were checked separately. Original PDF bytes matched the saved source, and the actual existing specification images and current Kia grade columns were inspected. No CathayEV joint road, restraint, packing, charging or stock inspection took place. Stock availability, production year, complete delivered totals and personal costs remain to be confirmed.
Questions before ordering Superior or Light SR
- Is this the newer rear-drive ATTO 3 EVO?
- No. The selected advertised Superior is the earlier front-wheel-drive car with a 60.48 kWh Blade battery and an 88 kW DC declaration. Confirm the actual stock identity and build before ordering.
- Does EV3 Light SR include a heat pump and surround-view camera?
- The current NZ Light SR column does not include either. It lists a rear-view camera and front/rear sensors. Do not transfer Earth or GT-Line equipment to the entry grade.
- Does Kia’s 45,000 km package mean 45,000 km of RUC?
- The current eligible October-December package lists 15,000 km of RUC and a separate three-year/45,000 km service plan. Registration dates, vehicle eligibility and exclusions apply.
- Does EV3’s DC peak prove a shorter stop?
- No. Kia publishes a timed 10-80% reference, but the chosen BYD sheet does not close an equivalent window here. Peak ratings alone do not establish matched charging time.
