B10 Design BEV vs ATTO 3 Superior NZ: the same headline price, different daily benefits

Try Design for its ventilated seats and controls, Superior for its documented equipment. Match actual cars, family fit and complete delivered quotes.

Try the B10 for its seating and controls; Superior remains a credible equipment choice

Start with the B10 Design BEV if its ventilated front seats, cabin controls and rear-drive configuration are useful reasons to change your shortlist. Start with the advertised ATTO 3 Superior if its seat position, opening roof, powered tailgate and surround-view camera suit your family better. Both need to pass the same loading and charging routine before their equipment becomes a buying advantage.

The Auckland B10 page and Bayswater's named Superior stock each show NZ$49,990 plus ORC. That makes a side-by-side demonstration worthwhile. It does not establish equal delivered cost: the sellers, on-road inclusions and delivery arrangements differ. We have not driven, charged, loaded or physically inspected these cars together.

This is the 67.1 kWh battery-electric B10 Design, not the cheaper B10 Ultra Hybrid EV. The BYD is the earlier front-wheel-drive Superior, not an ATTO 3 EVO. If you need petrol backup rather than dependable charging, these two BEVs do not resolve that separate decision.

Two advertised offers, with different questions about the actual car

Auckland Auto Group publishes a four-column B10 range. The selected BEV Design has a 67.1 kWh battery, 160 kW rear-mounted drive motor and 434 km WLTP declaration. BEV Life and the two 18.8 kWh Ultra Hybrid EV versions are separate columns. A model enquiry and test-drive route establishes a local offer, but does not identify a reserved vehicle, build date, VIN or confirmed delivery slot.

Bayswater identifies new stock 211007, 20 km, white and VIN LGXCE4CB8S2211007. It calls this a Last Call final-run Superior, available now. Its 2026 advertising title has not been independently decoded into a production year. Confirm that this exact car remains new, unregistered and available. The dated NZ specification sheet identifies the earlier Superior's 60.48 kWh battery and front-wheel drive.

The dealer in Auckland and the named BYD in Hastings also create a practical delivery question. Ask where the chosen car will be prepared, where you can inspect it and who pays any transport. A model page and a stock advertisement provide different levels of identification; neither is a completed purchase contract.

Put useful equipment beside the battery figures

The B10's larger declared battery is a specification difference, not proof that your family travels farther between stops. The seat features are more directly useful to assess: try them with the adults who will use the car, rather than assuming a longer equipment list produces a better seat.

Both selected cars are BEVs. The B10 page identifies rear-wheel drive, while Superior is front-wheel drive. Neither layout alone determines wet-road grip, refinement or how the steering feels. Tyres, calibration and conditions matter, and we have not carried out a common road assessment. Use these references to organise a demonstration, rather than turn motor location or battery size into an untested performance verdict.

The same headline amount leaves the delivered quote unfinished

The B10 price table says its figures include GST and exclude ORC. Ask for the total for the actual colour, accessories and vehicle, including registration, initial applicable RUC, preparation and delivery. The site does not supply a personal invoice or allocate a particular Design BEV to you. Confirm the offer still applies when the seller can supply that car.

Bayswater's ORC footnote includes registration, WOF, pre-delivery inspection, applicable RUC and dealer delivery charges. It expressly asks buyers to confirm the price and inclusions. Obtain that written total for stock 211007, then add any transport or collection cost that your own purchase requires. The two NZ$49,990 headlines therefore cannot establish a zero-dollar delivered difference.

The BYD national model page and February specification sheet retain an older Superior reference of NZ$55,990 plus ORC. We keep that separate from the named stock offer. It is not a second current invoice from which to manufacture a guaranteed discount, and the national page's entry-price language does not change an Essential into this Superior.

B10’s NZ$2,000 contribution is tied to finance, not an automatic cash reduction

The current dealer terms describe a NZ$2,000 contribution towards eligible new B10 finance, for purchases from 1 September to 31 October 2026 while stocks last. They also advertise no payments until March 2027 on approved finance. The deferred period is explicitly not interest-free: interest accrues on principal and applicable fees, raising total interest against a comparable non-deferred loan.

The page specifies principal-and-interest lending, a maximum 60-month term, possible minimum deposit and Heartland Bank lending criteria. Its footer also directs readers to Waikato Auto Group for a personal quote, despite being an Auckland Auto Group page. Ask which seller and finance terms apply to your purchase and get the fees and total repayment in writing. We have not resolved that footer discrepancy by assuming it is harmless.

Do not turn NZ$49,990 into NZ$47,990 cash by subtracting the contribution. Keep a cash proposal and a financed proposal separate for each car. An older C10 cashback pop-up on the same website is a different model and expired campaign, rather than an additional B10 benefit.

Ventilation is a reason to try Design, not a reason to skip the Superior

The exact BEV Design column lists eco-leather trim, heated and ventilated front seats, six-way powered driver adjustment and four-way powered front-passenger adjustment. Its audio entry is twelve speakers. These are concrete reasons to sit in the Design instead of borrowing Life's equipment, but seat comfort and sound quality are not established by the number of adjustments or speakers.

The Superior sheet marks heated front seats and powered front-seat adjustment. It also lists a panoramic opening roof and powered tailgate. The B10 page describes a panoramic glass roof, which we do not automatically call an opening roof. Ask each seller to demonstrate the feature and its controls on the car being offered. Avoid equating a similar equipment label with an identical function.

Pair your actual phone, choose a destination and change the climate settings while stationary. The B10 dealer currently lists wired and wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, with software and device conditions. Test what is implemented in that unit now. An old review predicting an update cannot prove your delivered software, and a demonstration car can carry a different version from the stock you buy.

Load the same family equipment before deciding which cabin works

Set the front seats for the regular driver and passenger before installing the actual child restraints. Check access through the doors, buckle reach, front-passenger space and whether the required rear seating positions remain usable. A five-seat designation or an exterior photograph does not establish a workable three-across restraint arrangement. We have not performed that installation or measured the interior clearances of either car.

The BYD sheet lists 440 litres minimum luggage space for Superior. A matching B10 luggage measurement method and loading arrangement have not been established in the selected local source. We therefore do not rank the boots by importing a B10 figure from another country. Put the same pushchair, bags and charging equipment in both, keep the needed seats available and close the tailgate normally.

Superior's surround-view monitor is worth operating in the actual parking space; its sheet also identifies front and rear radars. The B10 seller should demonstrate the offered parking hardware and software rather than have us infer it from overseas images. Check door swing, the charging lead's route and access to the load area in the space where the car will stay.

434 and 420 km WLTP do not settle the charging routine

The B10 Design table declares 434 km WLTP and the Superior sheet gives 420 km WLTP combined. These are laboratory references. Their difference does not measure a loaded winter trip, motorway use or the distance you can safely plan between your preferred chargers. Battery capacity is also not a consumption result, particularly without a common usable-capacity definition.

The B10 dealer page advertises approximately twenty minutes for DC charging from 30 to 80%, but does not close all the exact Design BEV charger conditions and AC/DC specifications needed for a matched comparison here. The selected Superior sheet gives an 88 kW DC declaration without an equivalent timed window. Do not convert those entries into a stop-time winner, or fill the gaps with Australian versions.

Start with charging where the car stays: permission, electrical supply, installation quote, tariff and a reliable fallback. For a repeated longer trip, map accessible chargers and an alternative. Neither a laboratory range nor a short headline window guarantees that a particular station can deliver the same result. We have not measured charging curves, energy use or a common journey.

Build the budget from your electricity and the actual service relationship

Compare bought electricity, including charging losses, rather than multiplying the larger range label by an assumed saving. Your budget also needs annual kilometres, applicable RUC, installation, insurance, tyres and maintenance. We have not verified a numerical current RUC rate for this comparison, and do not create an annual saving or payback period without the buyer's real inputs.

Ask which workshop handles each individual car, when warranty cover begins and which documents govern exclusions, servicing and battery coverage. The B10 dealer's headline warranty summary and the BYD stock page are starting points for that request, not matched evidence about repair delays or a promise of cost-free ownership. There is no comparable local sample of reliability or resale outcomes in this article.

For a final-run vehicle, also ask what preparation, software and support apply at delivery. For a newer model, ask the same questions. A newer badge does not establish dependable software, while remaining stock does not establish a fault. The useful answer is the exact car, written coverage and a service location that fits your routine.

China-side evidence

Keep NZ Design BEV and the earlier Superior separate from other versions

Australian B10 Style or Design pricing, equipment and charging documents cannot complete this New Zealand order. The local B10 table explicitly separates BEV and Ultra Hybrid EV, with different batteries and prices. Keep that separation when comparing a review, preparing questions or discussing a dealer's quotation. A petrol generator is not fitted to the BEV selected here.

The identified BYD stock is the earlier FWD Superior. An overseas ATTO 3 EVO with different driven wheels, charging platform or specifications is not the same purchase. Nor do manufacturer safety-assistance lists prove how the two actual cars compare in independent crash assessments. Confirm the applicable year and version before relying on a result. There is no CathayEV joint safety or handling test behind these recommendations.

Owner reports, complaint records and recall notices from the Chinese market, each with the source and the date we read it. Sample sizes are small; read them as signals, not survey results.

Buy the benefit that survives the demonstration and the written quote

I would continue with B10 Design if the ventilated seats, controls and actual cabin resolve a repeat need, its charging arrangement is practical and its completed purchase proposal is acceptable. I would continue with Superior if its opening roof, powered tailgate, parking equipment and actual family fit prove more useful, provided the identified stock and complete delivery terms are confirmed. With equal advertised vehicle amounts, a difference you can demonstrate matters more than a paper battery advantage.

This is documentary research from local sources checked on 19 October 2026, including the dated 1 February BYD sheet. Original PDF bytes were checked against the saved source; no joint vehicle inspection, road test, child-restraint installation, packing exercise or charge session took place. Exact availability, build identity and complete delivered totals remain unconfirmed. Place this pair beside other New Zealand comparisons if either misses the task you need a car to perform.

Questions before choosing the Design BEV or Superior

Is this the cheaper B10 Ultra Hybrid EV?
No. The selected Design BEV has a 67.1 kWh battery and rear-wheel drive. The 18.8 kWh Ultra Hybrid EV columns describe a separate petrol-generator version.
Does the finance contribution reduce B10’s cash price by NZ$2,000?
Not automatically. The contribution is tied to eligible approved finance and the written campaign terms. Deferred payments are not interest-free. Obtain separate complete cash and finance proposals.
Are the two NZ$49,990 headlines equal delivered prices?
They are vehicle amounts plus ORC from different sellers. Current unit identity, on-road inclusions, applicable initial RUC and any transport or collection cost must be quoted before comparing totals.
Does 434 km prove B10 goes farther than Superior in winter?
No. The 434 and 420 km WLTP references are not a common loaded route test. Real conditions, usable battery definitions and charging arrangements still matter.
