B10 Style vs EV3 Air Standard Range: family fit and charging in Australia

Compare the Australian B10 Style BEV and EV3 Air Standard Range: parking, luggage, charging windows and the real scope of a wall-charger offer.

Start with the EV3 for a tighter parking space; test the B10 for useful equipment

Put the Kia EV3 Air Standard Range first if a shorter body and the higher published combined-range reference matter most. Put the Leapmotor B10 Style BEV first if you will use its panoramic roof and surround-view parking equipment, its actual loaded cabin suits your family, and its finished quote is competitive. Neither recommendation depends on treating a charger promotion as free installation.

These are Australian battery-electric versions: B10 Style with 56.2 kWh, and EV3 Air 2WD Standard Range with 58.3 kWh. The B10 is not the Hybrid EV or Design Long Range; the Kia is not an Air Long Range or GT-Line. Both manufacturers currently offer local configuration, enquiry or test-drive routes.

The useful decision combines your parking space, passengers, regular charging and total delivered cost. We have compared documents read on 19 October 2026 UTC, not conducted a shared road or charging test. A test in your actual parking space and two completed quotes can change the order of the shortlist.

Choose the Australian Style BEV and Air Standard Range by name

Leapmotor's current Australian buyer's guide identifies MY26 Style BEV with a 56.2 kWh LFP battery, rear-wheel drive and 160 kW motor. The same guide includes Design Long Range and Hybrid EV versions. Their larger battery or petrol-assisted range cannot be added to a Style BEV order.

Kia's currently linked Australian brochure is headed Model Year 2027. Its Air 2WD Standard Range has a 58.3 kWh battery, front-wheel drive and 150 kW motor. The Air Long Range uses another battery and has another published range. A display car wearing the same Air badge is not enough to identify which you have been quoted.

Ask each retailer to put grade, battery, model year, options and delivered specification on the proposal. A current model page establishes an offer, not your VIN, colour allocation or collection date. If you need the car before a school holiday or lease return, resolve delivery before choosing paint or assuming a promotion applies.

The EV3 is shorter; the B10 has the larger declared rear boot

The B10 guide lists 4,515 mm length and 1,885 mm width excluding exterior mirrors. Kia lists 4,300 mm length and 1,850 mm width for the standard-body EV3. The B10 is 215 mm longer and 35 mm wider by editorial subtraction of those published figures. Confirm the actual mirror and door clearances before using either width as your garage limit.

A shorter car can leave more room to walk around a tight bay or reach the boot. It does not prove a smaller turning circle or an easier ramp without checking those separately. Measure the route into your space, including pillars and where a child will stand while you fasten a restraint.

Leapmotor declares 490 litres behind the second row in the Australian BEV guide; Kia gives 460 litres VDA with five seats up. We have not established a common measuring procedure for turning that difference into an extra suitcase. Do not import the 430-litre figure from a different market's B10 documentation or the Hybrid EV's boot specification.

Take your pram, school bags or walking aid to both cars. Keep the seats needed by passengers upright, check the opening and loading height, and see where the charging cable will go. A nominally bigger boot is worth little if your difficult object still prevents the tailgate closing.

436 km WLTP versus 361 km WLTP is a reference, not a guaranteed extra leg

Kia publishes 436 km combined WLTP for Air Standard Range. Leapmotor gives up to 361 km WLTP for Style BEV; its 434 km figure belongs to Design Long Range. These selected versions therefore give the Kia the higher published combined-range reference.

That does not guarantee it will travel a fixed distance further on your motorway trip. Weather, speed, tyres, passengers, heating and arrival reserve affect the result. A battery-size difference alone does not explain the range, and neither manufacturer's laboratory reference is a family holiday test by CathayEV.

If your normal week fits comfortably within both cars' usable routine, access and loading may matter more than the range gap. If one recurring journey pushes the limit, plan that journey first: charging sites, alternatives, access hours and the reserve you need at the far end. Do not choose Style using Design Long Range's figure, or pay for a larger Kia battery without checking whether it solves a route problem you actually have.

Twenty minutes and twenty-nine minutes start at different battery levels

The B10 Style specification lists 140 kW maximum DC and approximately twenty minutes from thirty to eighty per cent. Its generic website FAQ also mentions nineteen minutes. Neither establishes our own measured stop. Kia's Standard Range table quotes approximately twenty-nine minutes from ten to eighty per cent at a 350 kW-rated charging station.

The Kia starts its quoted session at a lower state of charge. Subtracting the times would not demonstrate that the B10 saves nine or ten minutes on each trip. The station's 350 kW rating is also not a claim that the EV3 draws that power throughout charging. Battery temperature, starting charge, shared power and the station all matter.

For AC, B10 lists an 11 kW onboard charger. Kia specifies 6.9 kW on single phase or 10.5 kW on three phase. Your available supply can limit both well below their three-phase figures. Ask an electrician about the actual circuit and load management; the vehicle rating cannot upgrade the house.

For public charging, check the connectors, payment method and actual sites on your routes. The EV3 table specifies Type 2 AC and CCS Type 2 DC. Have the B10 retailer confirm its supplied cable and Australian connection details on the delivered specification. We have not tested either against every network or established a shared charging curve.

A free wall charger still leaves an installation and delivery question

Leapmotor's Australian offer covers new and demonstrator B10 models purchased and delivered between 1 October and 31 December 2026. It advertises a 7 kW AC wall charger valued up to A$800 including GST. Installation costs are excluded, government and rental buyers are excluded, and the company reserves the right to change, withdraw or extend the offer.

That is a hardware benefit, not a completed electrical installation or an A$800 guaranteed cash discount. Obtain the equipment supplied, installation scope and responsibilities in writing. If delivery may fall outside the window, ask what happens to eligibility before depending on the benefit.

We have not closed two equivalent current drive-away prices for these exact versions. Request quotes for the same buyer and delivery location, with registration, compulsory insurance, stamp duty, dealer delivery, paint, accessories and charging work itemised. Do not compare a car's before-on-road number with another retailer's postcode-specific drive-away total.

If you finance, compare deposit, fees, term, final payment and total payable. A cheaper-looking repayment does not establish the lower acquisition cost. The charger offer should be assessed after the vehicle and installation totals, rather than used to fill a gap in an otherwise incomplete quote.

Pay for equipment you will use, then check the service contract

The B10 Style's local equipment includes a fixed panoramic glass roof with electric sunshade and surround-view parking equipment. Its cloth seats are not the heated and ventilated TechnoLeather seats from Design. Try the roof shade and cameras in the conditions that bother you: sunlight, a narrow bay and loading children.

The EV3 Air's current brochure lists interior V2L and an exterior adaptor, as well as its own parking and driver-assistance package. That does not turn it into a house backup system or transfer higher-grade seats, sunroof or cameras into Air. Confirm the equipment on the quoted car rather than comparing two photographs of flagship models.

For both, ask for vehicle and battery warranty terms, capacity conditions, service intervals and exclusions applying to the delivered build. Price insurance and scheduled servicing, and identify the workshop that will handle an immobilised vehicle. We have no comparable repair-time, depreciation or owner-failure sample that justifies a reliability winner.

Use the test drive to check the driving position, controls, phone connection, rear-facing child restraint and reversing view. Assistance features remain driver aids. A longer list or more cameras does not establish a better emergency response or a particular crash rating.

Questions to settle before paying a deposit

Is this the petrol-assisted B10? No. Style BEV is battery-electric. The Australian Hybrid EV and Design Long Range are separate selections.

Does the EV3 Standard Range have the long-range battery? No. The selected Air SR has 58.3 kWh. Check the battery and grade, not Air alone.

Does the wall charger offer cover installation? No. The published B10 offer excludes installation and requires qualifying purchase and delivery dates.

Is the B10 automatically the better boot choice? No. Its declared rear cargo figure is larger, but the measurement basis and your objects still need checking.

Have you confirmed an immediate car? No VIN, colour allocation or contractual collection date has been confirmed for either quote. Current local offers are not a universal delivery guarantee.

Which car should you book first?

Book EV3 Air Standard Range first for a shorter exterior and the higher published combined-WLTP reference. Book B10 Style first if its real loading arrangement, roof and parking equipment solve your needs and the finished vehicle-plus-installation quote makes sense. If both fit, a proper family test and comparable delivery terms should settle more than a peak charging number.

The sources are current Australian manufacturer pages and their linked MY26 B10 and MY27 EV3 guides, read on 19 October 2026 UTC. Catalogue model years identify the documents, not a VIN already assigned to you. The dimensional differences are editorial arithmetic; boot volumes, range and charging figures are manufacturer declarations with their conditions retained.

No road, charging, reliability or installation test was conducted. No order or finance application was submitted. Price, availability and the hardware offer need their own written confirmation when you buy.
