BYD Atto 2 vs Vauxhall Mokka Electric: boot space and UK family fit
Atto 2 Comfort has the larger published boot figure. Mokka Electric is shorter outside and may be enough for your luggage. Compare the exact electric versions and test your own bulky items.
The verdict
Choose Atto 2 Comfort first if carrying family luggage is the priority: it has the larger published boot figure. Choose Mokka Electric first when a shorter car suits your parking and its actual quote works better. Take your bulky items to both appointments; catalogue litres do not prove that a particular pushchair fits.
Buy the BYD Atto 2 UK if
You need the Comfort’s larger published luggage capacity and prefer its extra catalogue range, with a suitable charging routine.
Buy the Vauxhall Mokka current if
You value a shorter outside footprint and its seats and luggage space already meet your needs. Confirm the grant-inclusive price basis.

Which versions and prices are being compared?
This comparison uses the fully electric UK Atto 2 Comfort, rather than the Atto 2 DM-i plug-in hybrid, and the ordinary 156 PS Mokka Electric rather than the performance GSE. The current Mokka datasheet calls its entry grade YES. Older brochures use other trim names, so confirm the exact car and equipment in your order rather than choosing by badge alone.
Lookers' current new Comfort offer lists a cash price of £33,131.25, with terms running from 7 October to 31 December 2026. Its PCP manufacturer deposit contribution is a separate finance item, not another cash reduction to subtract from that figure. A search extract with a cheaper offer expiring on 8 October is not the price basis used here. Confirm cash eligibility and the full on-road amount directly with the dealer.
Vauxhall's current MY26 datasheet lists YES Electric at £31,005, with a qualification that displayed OTR prices include the applicable government electric-vehicle grant where eligible. That is a manufacturer reference with a different basis from the dealer's BYD offer. It is not a guaranteed personal saving. Obtain both written totals with registration, paint, accessories, delivery and grant eligibility matched.
Both have current UK sales routes, but an enquiry page does not confirm allocation or the handover date. Establish those before making the price the deciding factor.
The boot answer: 450 litres versus 310, with important limits
BYD's UK technical sheet lists Atto 2 Comfort at 450 litres with the rear seats up. Boost is a separate 400-litre version, so an Atto 2 comparison using only the smaller figure would miss the selected Comfort's specification. The manufacturer's figures make Comfort the stronger first shortlist if load space is your main question.
Vauxhall's February 2026 MY26B guide lists Mokka Electric at 310 litres with the rear seats up, measured under the luggage-compartment cover. The neighbouring 350-litre number belongs to the non-electric Mokka column. Using that number for the Electric would compare the wrong powertrain. The current datasheet does not provide a replacement luggage figure, so the dated UK guide is the boot reference used here.
The 140-litre arithmetic difference between the selected published figures is not an in-house packing result. BYD's short technical label does not establish an identical measurement boundary to Vauxhall's under-cover wording. Boot shape, the opening, floor height and what you need to carry can matter as much as the headline.
Take the folded pushchair, wheelchair or usual holiday bags to both cars. Try loading with the luggage cover fitted and the rear seats occupied as they normally would be. Check the loading lip, whether another bag can sit alongside the bulky item, and whether you can close the tailgate without forcing it. If both fit everything comfortably, the extra brochure capacity may offer little daily benefit.
The space you park in matters too
Atto 2 is about 4.31 metres long, while Vauxhall's current Mokka material gives about 4.15 metres. A roughly 16 cm shorter car can be useful where your parking bay, garage or street space is tight. That does not establish which is easier to see out of or manoeuvre; check the mirrors, camera view and the access you actually need.
For a family, use your real seating arrangement. Fit child restraints with the front seats in their normal positions, check whether the front passenger still has enough room and try getting everyone in beside a parked car. A larger boot number does not guarantee better rear-seat access, and an SUV-style body does not remove the need to try it.
Our practical order is to eliminate any car that fails the essential fit checks, then compare the remaining quotes and driving preferences. If the Mokka already carries everything and its shorter body is helpful, buying more external size may be unnecessary. If the bags do not fit with passengers aboard, an attractive price will not solve the problem.

Range and charging: compare the exact battery and window
The selected Comfort's UK sheet lists 267 miles WLTP combined. Do not substitute Boost's 214-mile combined figure or the larger city-cycle number. Vauxhall's current YES Electric entry lists a 249-mile WLTP reference. These are catalogue figures for shortlisting, rather than measured winter motorway distances; load, speed, weather and your arrival reserve still matter.
For charging, BYD quotes Comfort at up to 155 kW DC and 25 minutes from 10 to 80%. Vauxhall's current datasheet quotes up to 100 kW DC and about 30 minutes from 0 to 80%. The starting points differ. A five-minute real-world advantage cannot be calculated by subtracting those claims, and a higher peak does not establish the whole charging curve.
Both selected technical references list 11 kW onboard AC capability. Your connected supply can limit what you receive. If overnight charging replenishes the normal commute comfortably, the difference in DC headline figures may have little effect on daily life. For regular longer trips, plan your actual stops and an alternative, then look for a suitably matched charging test before treating either stop time as guaranteed.

The ownership check before you order
BYD's current warranty announcement states six years/150,000 km of basic cover, with Blade Battery cover separately extended to eight years/250,000 km under the applicable policy. The update takes precedence over an older battery mileage limit still found in some listings. Vauxhall's MY26 guide describes a three-year vehicle warranty, with a 60,000-mile limit in years two and three; obtain the contract applicable to your own car and any additional cover offered.
Those stated terms inform a purchase but do not predict reliability or future repair costs. Get an insurance quote for the exact variant, check the servicing location and read exclusions and battery cover separately. We have not established a matched depreciation or total ownership-cost result.
For the buyer asking primarily about boot space, we would try Atto 2 Comfort first. For a household whose luggage already fits the Mokka and whose parking space is tight, the smaller Vauxhall remains a sensible shortlist. A back-to-back fit check and matched written prices should settle the question more effectively than a trim name or an unmatched finance headline.
China-side evidence
China and other overseas comparisons need the right UK version
No matched China-market owner cohort has been used to rank the durability, battery ageing or resale value of these exact UK versions. A mainland price or a different battery version cannot establish the equipment, warranty or usable luggage space of your UK order. No owner rating or complaint total has been invented for this comparison.
There is a concrete specification trap even within the UK range: Atto 2 Boost and Comfort share a name and external footprint but have different batteries, published ranges and boot figures. That is why an overseas or earlier Atto 2 report must be matched to the exact version before applying its claims here. The Mokka comparison likewise needs the Electric column, rather than petrol luggage data. These distinctions support a buying recommendation, rather than a claim of a common long-term ownership test.
Owner reports, complaint records and recall notices from the Chinese market, each with the source and the date we read it. Sample sizes are small; read them as signals, not survey results.
How this comparison was researched
This UK comparison was checked on 18 October 2026. BYD's UK technical PDF was downloaded and its table visually inspected. The Mokka boot reference comes from the dated February 2026 UK MY26B guide; its current manufacturer datasheet supplies the present YES model, price and charging references. The current BYD dealer offer was read through its full quote and expiry details. Older expired search-offer snippets are excluded.
The buyer question comes from an actual UK search for Atto 2 versus Mokka Electric boot space recorded in CathayEV's Search Console. That observed signal is small and is not national keyword volume or a traffic forecast. No CathayEV packing test, road test or common charging-curve test is claimed. Written current specifications, grant eligibility, delivery allocation and the applicable warranty remain necessary order checks.
