T03 MY27 vs Fiat 500e La Prima: UK rear access and comfort
T03 makes the stronger first appointment for regular rear-seat loading. La Prima adds front-cabin comfort and phone integration; resolve the exact price and equipment before paying more.
The verdict
Start with the T03 if regular rear-seat access and keeping the initial spend down matter most. Consider the 500e La Prima Hatchback 42 if its heated front seats, heated windscreen and phone integration are worth paying for after a demonstration. Obtain the exact purchase quotations before judging the extra spend: the advertised figures are not two like-for-like cash offers.
Buy the Leapmotor T03 MY27 if
You regularly load the rear seats and the confirmed T03 order price leaves money for charging and other household needs.
Buy the Fiat 500e La Prima if
You will use the La Prima comfort equipment and wireless phone integration often enough to justify the actual quoted premium.

Choose the daily routine before the badge

These are two deliberately different ways to buy a small electric car. A low purchase reference and useful rear doors are the T03’s starting point. The La Prima is an equipment-led alternative for someone who values a more accommodating front-seat routine, rather than simply wanting the cheapest electric runabout. If you rarely carry anyone in the back, an access advantage may matter less than the controls you use on every journey.
Neither is an automatic recommendation for a household that needs five occupants, frequent bulky loads or dependable rapid charging as its only source of energy. Take the people and luggage you actually transport to both appointments. A compact exterior only becomes useful when the interior supports the job.
Conditions behind the comparison
The T03 PDF has expired grant fine print alongside its current table; Fiat’s from-price is not a completed quotation for the selected car.
ISOFIX positions do not prove that two particular seats fit, and neither a photograph nor a brochure establishes your loading clearance.
Confirm the equipment on the actual Hatchback order; the Fiat Monogram fabric roof is expressly Convertible-only.
T03 smartphone projection on the exact new build is unconfirmed here; Fiat’s 360-degree sensors must not be called a surround-view camera.
Fiat’s family-level up-to-199-mile and 15-80% charging claims are not an exact-trim result or the same charging window as the T03 figure.
Compare the current UK T03 with the right 500e
The Leapmotor is the UK MY27 T03 in the current price and specification sheet, with a 37.3 kWh battery and front-wheel drive. The Fiat selected here is the all-electric 500e La Prima Hatchback 42 kWh, which Fiat identifies on its current UK model page. It is not the 500 Hybrid, the Icon small-battery version or a La Prima Convertible. Both manufacturers currently provide UK sales, retailer and test-drive routes. That confirms a current local buying route; it does not confirm allocated stock, a delivery date or a completed contract.
Fiat’s dedicated La Prima page also describes the Convertible roof. The main model page is clearer about the body restriction: the fabric roof is for the Convertible. Use the Hatchback configuration and the retailer’s equipment schedule when you order; do not assume every item shown on a shared trim page belongs to every body.

Treat the T03 saving carefully and price the exact Fiat
The T03 sheet lists £16,295 total on-the-road, a £2,500 LEAP-GRANT saving and £13,795 including that saving. Its OTR definition includes VAT, delivery to the retailer, registration plates, the first registration fee and 12 months’ Vehicle Excise Duty. Chargeable paint is listed separately. Insurance and charging remain your costs.
There is a material inconsistency to resolve before signing. The same PDF still contains £3,000-saving fine print for orders ending on 30 September 2026. The current maker website instead describes a £2,500 private-retail saving for UK residents ordering between 1 July and 31 December 2026, excluding fleet, business and Motability sales. Do not revive the expired £3,000 wording or subtract a second saving. Ask the retailer to state the exact MY27 OTR amount, the applicable contribution, paint and the offer conditions in one purchase proposal.
Fiat advertises the La Prima range from £26,995 OTR. That is a useful starting reference, but we have not established an unconditional cash quotation for your chosen 42 kWh Hatchback, paint and options. The £20,995 Icon headline belongs to another trim. The separate £329-per-month hire promotion is also a different transaction, with an initial rental, mileage limit and no ownership at the end; it cannot be used as the La Prima’s cash purchase price. Confirm grant eligibility and whether a saving has already been included rather than subtracting it again.
For this decision, request two cash purchase quotations on the same day, with the same part-exchange assumption and all compulsory charges shown. Then ask whether the extra you would really pay buys equipment you will use. We have not turned these two advertised references into a precise price gap, finance total or five-year ownership saving.
Try the child seats and the bags together
The T03’s five-door layout and the two rear ISOFIX positions listed in the current MY27 sheet make it the more obvious first appointment for a household using the rear seats every day. Dedicated rear doors can reduce the repeated task of moving a front seat when helping a passenger. The useful question is whether you can secure the particular child seat, reach its buckle and close the door comfortably while the front driver remains in a sensible position.
Carwow’s UK review explicitly compares T03 rear accommodation with the Fiat 500 Electric and describes the T03’s rear space favourably. That is its assessment of the car it reviewed, rather than our own test of the current MY27 build. Its older equipment and range details are not a substitute for today’s local specification. Use the comparison as a reason to try both cabins, not as a guarantee that your passengers will agree.
For the Fiat, demonstrate the rear-seat access route in the exact Hatchback, then return the front seat to your driving position. Load the pushchair or shopping bags while the required passenger seats remain usable. We have not run a common luggage test, so a boot-volume headline does not settle this choice. A car that carries the seat but not the accompanying bags may fail the household’s routine even if it feels appealing from the driver’s seat.
La Prima earns consideration through equipment you can demonstrate
The T03 is not an empty budget specification. Its MY27 sheet includes single-zone electric air conditioning, a panoramic glass sunroof with a powered blind, a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors and four electric windows. Those items address daily convenience without requiring the more expensive Fiat. Check the air-conditioning controls, the blind and the reversing picture during the appointment; the list alone cannot tell you whether they are easy to use.
Fiat’s current La Prima list adds heated front seats and a heated windscreen, six-way manual front-seat adjustment and a central armrest. These can be relevant to an early winter departure or a driver who struggles to find a comfortable sitting position. They are not evidence of a better ride, quieter motorway journey or superior seat comfort, none of which we have measured. Make the seat adjustment and heating demonstration part of the purchase decision.
Fiat lists wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto through the Icon equipment inherited by La Prima. Leapmotor describes navigation, Wi-Fi, app control and software updates, but we have not independently confirmed smartphone projection on the exact new T03 build. Ask to pair your actual phone, start your usual navigation and return from a call to the driving display. An unconfirmed feature should remain a question, rather than a claim that every T03 lacks it.
For parking, La Prima’s listed rear camera and 360-degree parking sensors should be demonstrated separately. The latter description does not mean a surround-view camera. Compare the visible kerb, the warning behaviour and the view through the windows from your own seating position.

Plan the weekly charge before comparing headline minutes
The current T03 sources declare 171 miles of combined WLTP range from its 37.3 kWh battery. The maker website states a maximum 45 kW DC rate and 36 minutes from 30 to 80 per cent. These are manufacturer figures, not our road or charging test. A cold battery, motorway use, the station and the charge level on arrival can change the useful distance and the time stopped.
Fiat’s current page discusses up to 199 miles across the 500e large-battery range. Its charging fine print uses a different starting point, 15 to 80 per cent in 30 minutes at a suitable 100 kW station, with up to 85 kW vehicle charging power. We have not established that every headline is the exact result for the selected La Prima Hatchback 42 build and equipment. Nor are 30-80 and 15-80 per cent the same task. There is no justified six-minute head-to-head result here.
With reliable home or workplace charging, choose a routine that covers the next day’s journeys with a margin, then confirm the car’s AC capability and the installation quote. If public rapid charging would be your only option, try the relevant charger and consider the waiting time, detour and tariff. A lower vehicle price does not by itself solve an inconvenient charging routine.
Check the workshop and the real handover
Before paying a deposit, identify the workshop that will handle servicing and warranty work, ask for the applicable vehicle and battery warranty documents and confirm the earliest realistic handover. Dealer coverage in a national announcement does not tell you how long your local appointment will take. Obtain insurance quotations for the exact registrations or specifications rather than assuming that the lower-priced car must be cheaper to insure.
Our preference changes with the household. Regular rear-seat loading and a tightly controlled upfront budget favour starting with the T03. Mostly front-seat use, valued winter comfort and demonstrated phone integration can justify considering La Prima. If the Fiat’s actual extra cost forces you to postpone a suitable charging installation, or its rear access fails your daily task, its additional equipment is unlikely to repair that mismatch. Browse the UK guides for other locally specified alternatives if neither works.
The selected T03 is a UK MY27 specification. Overseas photographs, software demonstrations and owner accounts do not establish the equipment on the car being ordered here. We have not used Chinese-market specifications or unmatched complaint counts to rank these UK cars for reliability.
China-side evidence
Use the UK build for the UK decision
Owner reports, complaint records and recall notices from the Chinese market, each with the source and the date we read it. Sample sizes are small; read them as signals, not survey results.
Sources checked on 20 October 2026
This is a comparison based on current UK manufacturer information and a clearly attributed UK review, checked on 20 October 2026. It is not a CathayEV road test, loading measurement or charging trial. The purchase answer remains conditional on the retailer resolving the T03 saving and confirming the exact Fiat order, equipment and cash quotation. The price comparison concerns buying the cars, rather than matching a cash purchase with a hire agreement. Insurance, charging installation and future energy spending have not been priced for an individual household. The equipment comparison distinguishes a manufacturer listing from a feature demonstrated on the car you will receive. These limits are why the practical recommendation depends on your passengers, controls and written order, rather than on an assumed universal winner.
Questions before ordering
- Is the T03 £13,795 in the UK?
- The current MY27 price table shows £16,295 OTR, a £2,500 saving and £13,795 after it. Its fine print still describes an expired £3,000 offer, while the current website gives a different £2,500 offer period. Get the applicable amount and eligibility in writing; do not combine the two savings.
- Is £26,995 the confirmed cash price of the 500e La Prima Hatchback 42?
- No exact personal cash quotation has been established here. It is Fiat’s advertised La Prima from-price. Confirm the selected Hatchback, 42 kWh battery, paint, equipment and any grant already included before comparing the amount payable.
- Which should a family try first?
- Start with the T03 if rear-seat loading is frequent: it has five doors and the current MY27 sheet lists two rear ISOFIX positions. Bring the actual child seats, passengers and bags. Test the Fiat’s access and seating arrangement too; neither an ISOFIX count nor a brochure proves your full load fits.
- Does La Prima have a 360-degree camera?
- The current UK list names a rear parking camera and 360-degree parking sensors. Those are not a claim of a surround-view camera. Check the picture and warnings on the exact demonstration car.
- Can the advertised charging times pick a winner?
- No. T03’s declared 36 minutes covers 30-80 per cent, while Fiat’s family-level 30-minute statement covers 15-80 per cent under stated station conditions. Confirm the exact Fiat build and compare a matching route and charge window before drawing a practical conclusion.
