SEAL Design vs ID.7 Pro Match Plus: UK equipment and the retail quote

SEAL for included ventilated front seats; ID.7 for its standard AR display and matrix lights. Compare exact options and complete retail quotes before choosing value.

The verdict

Choose SEAL Design first if its heated and ventilated front seats, powered adjustments and panoramic roof are equipment you will use without adding a higher grade. Choose ID.7 Pro Match Plus first if its standard augmented-reality head-up display and matrix headlights matter more. Obtain two exact new-car retail quotations before deciding value: neither a finance APR nor a home-charger offer is the delivered cash price.

Buy the BYD SEAL Design if

The included front-seat comfort and roof are useful and the exact Design retail order works.

Buy the Volkswagen ID.7 Pro Match Plus if

The standard AR head-up display and matrix lighting justify the actual Pro Match Plus proposal.

Start with the features that change your daily drive

Choose SEAL Design first if its heated and ventilated front seats, powered adjustments and panoramic roof are equipment you will use without adding a higher grade. Choose ID.7 Pro Match Plus first if its standard augmented-reality head-up display and matrix headlights matter more. Obtain two exact new-car retail quotations before deciding value: neither a finance APR nor a home-charger offer is the delivered cash price.

This comparison is for someone choosing a new electric saloon or fastback and deciding what is actually included. A family that wants seat ventilation and two powered front seats has a different shortlist from a driver who puts a head-up display and lighting first. Count the equipment you will use, then find out what the other car needs to match it. A long list of features is less helpful than a short list of requirements.

We have not driven, charged or loaded these cars together. There is no claim here that one rides better, has more reliable software or costs less to own. The useful outcome is a pair of correctly specified orders and a demonstration of the features that matter to you.

Demonstrate both drivers’ positions; ventilation and a seat photograph do not establish comfort.

Do not add Excellence equipment to Design or assume every ID.7 hero feature is included.

Have the retailer demonstrate the actual equipment; assistance does not replace the driver.

These are declared laboratory references, not a jointly measured motorway result.

Price the same useful equipment and delivered costs; keep finance and charger conditions separate.

Design MY26 and Pro Match Plus are the selected UK cars

The SEAL is the UK MY26 Design, with rear-wheel drive and the leaflet’s 82.5 kWh Blade LFP battery. BYD does not label that capacity as gross or usable in the selected table, so it should not be compared directly with Volkswagen’s net capacity as if both labels meant the same thing. The current SEAL retail campaign applies to all SEAL models, while the linked UK leaflet separates Design from Excellence.

The Volkswagen is ID.7 Pro Match Plus, whose selected paragraph specifies 286 PS and a 77 kWh net battery. It is not Pro S Match Plus with the larger battery or GTX Plus. The page heading says Pro Match Plus even though the description below abbreviates the name to Pro Match. Have that full version, its supplied specification and its delivery terms recorded on the order.

Current manufacturer sales and configuration routes establish the local choices. They do not promise a particular build slot, colour or delivery date. Confirm allocation with the retailer rather than treating an available-stock invitation as a guarantee that the exact car you want is ready.

SEAL’s ventilation and powered adjustments are specific reasons to try it

The MY26 Design equipment table includes heated and ventilated front seats, Nappa upholstery, a heated steering wheel and powered adjustment for both front occupants. The driver gets eight-way power adjustment, memory and four-way lumbar adjustment; the passenger has six-way power adjustment. These features are in the selected Design column rather than borrowed from Excellence.

Volkswagen’s Pro Match Plus standard-feature list explicitly includes heated front seats. It does not, by itself, close the fitment and price of every massage, ventilation or ErgoPremium feature presented elsewhere on the model page. Ask the retailer to identify the exact seat package and its cost if you need more than the selected standard list establishes. A feature shown on Pro S or GTX is not proof of a Pro Match Plus order.

For two regular drivers, set both positions and repeat the adjustment. Try the ventilation, steering-wheel heating and controls while stationary. If a feature is comfortable only with a posture you cannot sustain, its inclusion has not solved the problem. Conversely, do not pay to match a feature you will scarcely use.

ID.7 includes the head-up display that Design does not

The UK SEAL leaflet marks head-up display as unavailable on Design and available on Excellence. A general SEAL photograph or an overseas Premium specification must not put it into this Design comparison. Design does include the listed 15.6-inch centre display and twelve-speaker Dynaudio system.

Pro Match Plus explicitly lists an augmented-reality head-up display, a 15-inch navigation display, IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights and Area View with a rear camera. Those are concrete items to compare with your requirements. They do not establish that every cabin, assistance or lighting feature in the model page’s highlights is standard.

Try the display in your normal seating position and with the glasses you use for driving. Ask how the lights and assistance systems operate and what remains the driver’s responsibility. SEAL’s selected table also lists a 360-degree camera and adaptive cruise. Neither a camera name nor a feature count is a measured safety ranking between the cars.

Separate included comfort from the website’s optional highlights

Design’s table includes a panoramic roof, an electric tailgate and a heat pump. Volkswagen explicitly includes a heat pump in Pro Match Plus’s standard list too. A heat pump is therefore not an equipment item to add to only one side of this comparison or a guarantee of a particular winter range.

The ID.7 page also presents Smart Glass roof and specialised seat features among its highlights, alongside other grades’ equipment. Do not build a supposedly standard Pro Match Plus out of those photographs. If the roof or a seat package is essential, obtain its exact option name, compatibility and retail price on the chosen car. The distinction may change the quote more usefully than the screen’s diagonal measurement.

Check headroom and roof-shade behaviour in the actual cars. On a family demonstration, verify the normal passenger positions and required load. The SEAL leaflet separately gives 485 litres at the rear and 72 litres at the front; those are not one rear compartment. This article does not award a luggage winner from an unmatched volume. Try the opening and the items you actually carry.

Use the selected range figures without turning them into a road test

BYD declares 354 miles combined WLTP for Design. Volkswagen’s selected Pro Match Plus paragraph declares 380 miles combined WLTP. Volkswagen also gives other ranges for the wider family; Pro S and GTX figures do not replace the selected paragraph. Neither car has been tested here on the same motorway, in the same weather or with your passengers and luggage.

Design’s leaflet gives 11 kW AC and an 8.6-hour reference from empty to full on an 11 kW three-phase supply. That is not a promise from any domestic socket or a single-phase wallbox. For DC it lists a 150 kW maximum, 37 minutes from 10 to 80 per cent and 26 minutes from 30 to 80 per cent. Those two intervals are different; the leaflet’s conditions include a suitable high-output, high-voltage charger and 25°C ambient temperature, with actual performance affected by battery state and conditions.

We have not closed an equivalent selected-build ID.7 charging specification here. Do not use an old model-family charging time to invent a head-to-head stop. For either order, ask for the precise car’s AC capability and charging guide, then check the supply and public stops you will actually use. An installer should assess your property and equipment rather than treating a promotional wallbox as proof that every installation is straightforward.

An APR and a £199 charger are different parts of a purchase

BYD’s current SEAL offer advertises down to 1.9% APR representative over a 49-month PCP agreement, for eligible retail orders through participating dealers from 7 October to 31 December 2026. Approval and the stated conditions apply. That does not provide the exact Design cash price, deposit, monthly payment, optional final payment or total payable for your order. We do not calculate a contract total from the APR alone.

Volkswagen advertises an Ohme ePod or Home Pro charger for £199 for qualifying new ID.7 retail orders. The conditions include UK residents aged at least eighteen, ordering by 31 December 2026 and completing installation within three months of vehicle delivery. Personal Contract Hire and fleet customers are excluded. Confirm the standard installation scope and any extra work; this is not an unconditional free charger or a reduction in the car’s cash price.

We have not established two matched current cash OTR quotations. Obtain the exact grade, paint, options, accessories, on-the-road total and delivery date in writing. Keep the trade-in valuation separate. If financing, compare deposits, terms, fees, optional final payments, mileage and condition obligations, and total payable. A low monthly figure cannot settle the value question before those terms are known.

Who should take each proposal further?

A buyer who will use powered seating for two adults, ventilation and the roof should take the Design order forward first. Confirm that the specified MY26 car is the one supplied, then test the seating and controls. A buyer who prioritises the standard AR display and matrix lights should take the Pro Match Plus proposal forward first, with any seat or roof options fully priced.

If your quoted Volkswagen needs no extra equipment that matters to you, comparing it with an imagined heavily optioned car would be misleading. Equally, if an ID.7 highlight is a required extra, ignoring its cost would misstate your choice. Change the conclusion when the actual equipped quotes or demonstrations change, rather than defending a badge-level winner.

This documentary comparison uses UK manufacturer sources checked on 20 October 2026. It does not borrow another country’s equipment, an old cash price or a measured ownership verdict. For a broader shortlist, see other buying guides.

Questions before signing the two orders

Does UK SEAL Design include a head-up display?
The MY26 UK leaflet marks it unavailable for Design and available on Excellence. Design does include its listed heated and ventilated front seats. Do not transfer the HUD from another grade or country.
Does Pro Match Plus include the ID.7’s advertised seat and roof features?
Its selected standard list includes heated front seats, AR head-up display, matrix headlights and a heat pump. Other roof, massage or seat highlights require a specific fitment and option-price check for the order.
Is the Volkswagen’s 380-mile range a tested advantage over Design’s 354 miles?
Both are selected manufacturer combined WLTP references. They are not a shared road test and do not guarantee your motorway distance. Do not substitute the Pro S range or a generic model-family figure.
Does SEAL’s 11 kW figure establish overnight charging at any home?
No. The leaflet’s 8.6-hour empty-to-full reference is for an 11 kW three-phase supply. The available supply, installation, car and charging conditions determine the real session.
Which is cheaper after the current offers?
Two complete current cash OTR quotes have not been established here. BYD’s eligible PCP APR and Volkswagen’s conditional £199 charger are different offer components. Compare exact equipment, delivered totals and full finance schedules separately.
