MG IM6 100 Long Range vs XPENG G6 RWD Long Range in the UK: space, charging and the real quote
Two UK long-range electric SUVs, two different footprints. Compare the IM6's published boot and WLTP claim with the G6's smaller body and lower listed OTR price, then verify the actual cars and offers.
The verdict
The G6 is the lower-priced, easier-to-park shortlist; the IM6 earns a place if you use its larger published boot and longer WLTP claim.
Buy the MG IM6 if

The short answer: price the actual car, then test your parking space
For a UK household deciding between two rear-drive long-range electric SUVs, the XPENG G6 RWD Long Range is the lower published OTR starting point and the easier body to fit into a narrow bay. The MG IM6 100 Long Range gives a longer manufacturer WLTP claim and a larger published rear boot. The decision changes if the current stock quote, insurance premium, luggage shape or charge stop differs from the brochure. Test both cars with your usual passengers and cargo, and compare itemised offers for the actual VINs before committing.
This is an exact-grade comparison of current UK ordering routes and manufacturer documents checked on 24 October 2026. We have not driven the two cars back to back or measured their real-world charging, luggage or energy use. Both manufacturers publish unusually high peak DC figures; neither peak tells you the time your family will spend at its regular motorway stop.

Which UK versions are actually being compared?
MG lists an IM6 100 Long Range alongside Performance and Launch Edition. The Long Range is rear-wheel drive with a nominal 100 kWh battery, and MG's UK offer page names it as a retail model. XPENG UK lists the new 2026 G6 RWD Long Range with a live ordering route and test-drive booking. XPENG announced UK retailer availability in March 2026. These are locally offered versions, not figures carried from Australia, Spain or China.
Ask each dealer for the build year, exact trim, VIN, paint, included cable, software version and written handover date. A live model page does not guarantee that one colour or specification is in stock near your postcode. The MG brochure is dated August 2025 and the XPENG brochure December 2025; a newly built car may have revised equipment or commercial terms.

China-side evidence
What China-side model evidence can and cannot tell a UK buyer
IM Motors' own announcement names its overseas IM6 as an export version of the LS6, while XPENG publishes a separate domestic G6 configuration. Those are useful identity and development clues. They do not make a Chinese list price, CLTC range, software feature or owner rating a UK delivered-car fact. The comparison below therefore uses UK OTR listings and UK specification brochures, not an exchange-rate conversion or a Chinese forum score.
We did not verify comparable current Chinese owner-rating, complaint or recall samples for both exact UK-equivalent grades. Their absence here is unknown evidence, not zero complaints. Before buying, ask each UK retailer which assistance functions, charging hardware and warranty document apply to the quoted VIN, and consult UK safety and service sources separately.

Published figures: use the two Long Range columns
MG quotes 388 miles WLTP combined for IM6 100 Long Range; XPENG quotes 326 miles WLTP combined for G6 RWD Long Range. The 62-mile difference is a laboratory comparison, not an observed motorway advantage. MG also publishes 665 L behind the rear seats and 32 L in front; XPENG publishes 571 L behind the rear seats. Both seat five. Manufacturer volume conventions and the shape of your luggage can alter the useful difference.
MG's official body dimensions are 4,904 mm long and 1,988 mm wide without mirrors. XPENG's are 4,758 mm long and 1,920 mm wide. The IM6 is 146 mm longer and 68 mm wider on those body measurements. MG also quotes 2,190 mm including mirrors; we have no directly comparable UK G6 mirror-width figure from the cited document, so do not subtract one from the other. Measure your gate, garage, door-opening room and turning path instead.
The price gap is a guide to questions, not a signed deal
The MG UK site currently lists IM6 100 Long Range from £48,495 OTR. XPENG UK's G6 order page lists RWD Long Range in white at £44,990 OTR. That is a £3,505 difference between those displayed starting references. It is not a proven gap between two deliverable cars in your chosen colour, postcode and handover week. The indexed MG PCP example was tied to registration by 30 September 2026; do not treat its 0% APR or monthly instalment as a current October offer. XPENG's stock listing also contains some different colour and interior prices. Obtain fresh cash and finance quotations separately.
The useful comparison is the entire transaction: exact VIN and paint, dealer fees, accessories, any charger or cable, trade-in allowance shown separately, deposit, interest, final payment and annual mileage limit. Get two insurance quotes for the same drivers and address, and ask about service-plan costs before deciding that the cheaper OTR figure is cheaper to own. Neither published starting price tells us your depreciation or electricity bill.

A larger published boot may cost you parking clearance
The 94 L gap between the two rear-boot claims is a reason to bring the same pram, suitcase, dog crate or work kit to both test drives. Check the height and width of the tailgate opening, floor lip, underfloor storage and rear-seat position while real passengers sit in the car. MG's 32 L front compartment could separate a cable from clean luggage, but it only helps if your own cable fits. A litre figure is not a guarantee that one particular rigid item will load.
If a garage or on-street bay is tight, the IM6's 68 mm extra published body width and 146 mm extra length matter more than a screen rendering of a parking manoeuvre. Leave room for mirrors and people to open doors; ask the XPENG dealer for the quoted car's mirror-to-mirror width. Repeat the actual approach and exit rather than assuming driver-assistance software can remove physical clearance limits.
Which charging advantage would you actually use?
MG specifies up to 396 kW DC and a manufacturer's 17-minute 10-80% estimate for IM6 100 Long Range at a suitable 350 kW charger. XPENG specifies up to 451 kW DC and a manufacturer's 12-minute 10-80% estimate for G6 Long Range. The five-minute brochure gap does not prove five minutes saved on your route. Charger output, a shared power cabinet, arrival state of charge, battery temperature, preconditioning and the charging curve all matter. A nominal peak is reached only under suitable conditions, if at all.
At home, both brochures list up to 11 kW AC, but a typical single-phase UK installation may provide less. Ask a qualified installer what your supply can deliver and get a tariff quote based on your own mileage. On a regular long journey, identify two usable CCS stops and a backup; price the actual public network you would use. Do not divide a WLTP range or battery capacity by a peak charging number to invent a real stop time.
Check the controls, warranty and local support
MG's brochure lists a 26.3-inch combined display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera and a 7-year/80,000-mile manufacturer warranty for IM6. XPENG's new G6 brochure lists a 15.6-inch central screen, wireless phone integration, 360-degree parking camera and 5-year/75,000-mile vehicle warranty; its traction-battery warranty is stated as 8 years/100,000 miles. Those are different coverage documents, not a prediction of reliability. Read exclusions and service obligations for the exact VIN before treating warranty length as a cost saving.
Euro NCAP has model assessments for IM6 and G6, but a shared star count alone cannot choose your child seat, parking routine or alert preferences. Fit your own restraint and try the assistance settings during daylight and rain if possible. Ask each seller who will service the car locally, the quoted interval and a written parts/repair route. We have no matched repair-frequency, insurance or resale dataset for this pair.
A UK shortlist decision that survives a dealer quote
Choose the G6 RWD Long Range for the shortlist if its smaller footprint solves a real parking problem and the delivered offer remains meaningfully below the IM6's. Confirm the actual stock car, cargo fit and local service path. Choose IM6 100 Long Range for the shortlist if its extra published luggage space and WLTP headroom change a trip you genuinely make, and if the wider body fits your parking space and the written total is worth paying. The headline 12- versus 17-minute charging estimates are secondary unless your regular CCS stops can support the cars under comparable conditions.
Get both dated quotes first. Then test the same family load and parking manoeuvre, use your own long route with a sensible arrival reserve, and collect insurance plus servicing estimates. If a dealer changes grade, model year, delivery date or offer eligibility, redo the comparison rather than carrying over another version's figures. For more UK choices, start at the UK edition.
Four questions to ask before ordering
Is 388 versus 326 miles the motorway gap? No. Those are manufacturers' WLTP combined figures for the specified Long Range grades. Neither is a same-day route test with your load, speed and weather.
Does the 451 kW peak guarantee a 12-minute stop? No. XPENG's 12-minute figure is a manufacturer estimate under suitable charging conditions. MG's 17-minute estimate is also conditional. Check the charger and actual preconditioning behaviour.
Is MG's old 0% PCP example available today? The indexed example we checked had a September registration cutoff. Ask for an October quote with all terms; we cannot carry that offer forward.
Does the IM6 definitely take more of my cargo? Its published rear boot is 665 L against XPENG's 571 L, but only loading the same items into the actual cars can settle shape, access and passenger-space tradeoffs.
