New G6 Long Range vs ARIYA Engage in Australia: equipment, AC charging and the delivered quote

Shortlist the revised G6 for its documented range and charging proposition, with comfort equipment confirmed on the order. Shortlist ARIYA Engage if its cloth, manual-seat cabin suits you, after resolving the AC charger fitted to the car.

G6 for the documented range proposition; Engage for the cabin you have tried

I would put the revised New G6 RWD Long Range on the first shortlist if longer trips make its stated range and charging capability useful, provided the order confirms the comfort equipment you want. I would try ARIYA Engage first if you prefer its documented cloth seats and manual adjustment, and its cabin, controls and local support proposal work better for you. Before choosing Nissan, resolve which AC charger the actual car has: the current webpage and brochure disagree.

This is not a claim that XPENG will always charge in twelve minutes or that Nissan’s familiar badge proves a better ownership result. We have not driven or charged these exact cars together and have not obtained matched driveaway quotes. The recommendation changes if the equipment, delivery or complete price on the order differs from the advertising.

The revised 80.8 kWh G6 is the comparison vehicle

XPENG’s current Australian configurator identifies New G6 RWD Long Range with an 80.8 kWh gross LFP battery, 218 kW, 440 Nm and rear-wheel drive. It gives 525 km WLTP on 20-inch wheels. That is not the older Long Range specification with an 87.5 kWh battery: do not carry an earlier test car’s battery, power, price or driving impressions across to this version. The active local configurator, finance offer and dealer/test-drive routes establish a current sales channel, not a car allocated to your order.

The Nissan reference is the Australian ARIYA Engage with a 63 kWh battery, front-wheel drive, 160 kW and 300 Nm. Its selected webpage gives 385 km indicative WLTP range. The brochure available through the current download route is dated August 2025; that date does not make a present quote a promise about a specific production year. Confirm build, model year, grade, equipment and delivery together.

A selected card and an estimated configuration are different figures

The Long Range card in the XPENG configurator shows A$56,800. The page also offers paint, interior and premium-seat selections, and its overall estimated price can describe a different combination from that card. We do not label A$56,800 a completed driveaway quote or assume all marketing equipment is included in it. Ask for a saved configuration and a delivered proposal for your postcode, including options, stamp duty, registration, compulsory insurance and dealer charges.

XPENG’s current offer advertises a 2.88% fixed-rate consumer loan and a 2.88% comparison rate, with a maximum three-year term, no minimum deposit and no balloon option. Eligible applications must be received and settled by 31 December 2026, subject to approval, participating dealers and stock. It covers the listed new and demonstrator New G6 variants, excludes G6 cars manufactured before 1 May 2026 and cannot be combined with another offer. The comparison-rate illustration uses A$30,000 over five years; that example is not the advertised three-year contract. Read the excluded fees and obtain your own schedule before comparing finance with cash.

Nissan explains an indicative driveaway-price basis, including registration, compulsory third-party insurance, dealer delivery and stamp duty, with location affecting the result. We have not closed an actual Engage amount here. Do not import a launch article’s price or compare that older ex-on-road figure with a configurator estimate. Until both postcode-specific proposals are complete, there is no defensible purchase-price winner.

Make XPENG’s comfort package explicit; keep Nissan’s base-grade list

The G6 model page promotes features such as Nappa upholstery, heated, ventilated or massage seating and other comfort technology. Its own footnote says some displayed or described features are optional and actual configurations vary by market. The configurator also presents an optional premium-seat selection. Those qualifications matter more than an attractive cabin photograph: request a written list of the seats, upholstery, adjustment, ventilation, massage and parking functions fitted to the selected Long Range at your quoted price.

Nissan’s selected Engage list is clearer about its base cabin: fabric upholstery, manually adjustable six-way driver and passenger seats, dual-zone climate control and rear air vents. It lists a rear-view camera, front/rear parking sensors and a heat pump. Heated or ventilated seats, a surround camera, power seat memory and a hands-free powered tailgate appear in higher grades’ lists; do not borrow those to complete Engage. Try its seating position and controls before paying for a different grade to solve an assumed problem.

Neither a parking-feature name nor a screen size establishes image quality or everyday ease. Ask for a stationary demonstration with your phone and each regular driver, then test whether the cabin still suits you with the rear seats occupied.

Resolve the ARIYA AC hardware before choosing a home charger

XPENG’s selected Long Range description gives 11 kW AC and a reference of 9.2 hours from 5 to 100%. It also identifies CCS2. That is a particular source scenario, not the time every Australian house can reproduce. Ask an installer to assess your available supply and the equipment, protection and cable run needed for your parking space; installation is separate from the vehicle order.

The current ARIYA Engage webpage lists a 22 kW onboard charger as a “Launch Offer”. The currently downloadable brochure instead prints AC 7.4 kW for Engage. We retain both: the fitted hardware and eligibility for the launch item are not settled by choosing one source and ignoring the other. Have Nissan identify the charger specification for your exact car in writing, with any offer conditions, then size the installation around that confirmed specification. Installing a faster point does not increase a car’s onboard capability.

The AC uncertainty matters most if you need to recover substantial range within a restricted parking window. If your routine is mainly small overnight top-ups, compare that actual task with the confirmed equipment rather than paying for the largest advertised number. We have not calculated a charging bill without your tariff or measured either car on a shared installation.

A larger catalogue range is useful; it is not a route guarantee

The selected G6’s 525 km and Engage’s 385 km are WLTP references from their Australian sources. They give a reason to investigate G6 for longer journeys, but neither promises the distance with your speed, temperature, passengers, luggage or battery condition. Keep stops and a reserve in the plan, and check compatible chargers on the routes you actually use. We have not converted those references into a motorway result or a saving in travel time.

XPENG declares DC charging up to 451 kW and 12 minutes from 10 to 80%. Its conditions say actual charging depends on the vehicle, temperature, starting charge, battery and charger. Nissan’s brochure lists 130 kW DC and a 35-minute 10-80% reference with its own conditions. The shared percentage window helps describe the claims; it does not make them a controlled test with the same station and conditions. A high peak is not a session-long average, and an older G6 charging result cannot establish what the revised car does.

If fast road-trip stops are central to the purchase, request an explanation or demonstration of the offered car’s charging preparation and the infrastructure needed for its claim. Do not assume your usual highway stop can deliver the manufacturer’s maximum just because its connector fits.

Bring the family load, rather than adding up unmatched litres

XPENG’s selected description lists five seats and 571 litres of boot capacity, or 1,374 litres with the rear seats folded. Nissan lists five seats and 466/1,350 litres for Engage. These sources do not establish a matched luggage-measurement method for this comparison, so the numbers are prompts for a loading check rather than proof of which will carry your belongings better.

Take the pram, sports gear or travel cases you normally use. Set the front seats for both drivers, try access to the rear and check the boot opening, lip, cover and space when cables are stored. Ask which floor and load accessories come with the car. The power-operated lid advertised on a higher ARIYA grade does not confirm that feature on Engage, and the G6’s general photographs do not replace its contracted equipment list. We have not tested either on your driveway or measured their visibility and manoeuvring clearance.

Ask about the car’s support, not the reputation of its badge

Both selected lists include driver assistance, but those systems remain aids under driver supervision. Nissan warns that ProPILOT has operating limits and the driver must remain in control. XPENG similarly qualifies XPILOT and parking functions, with production-month and market conditions affecting availability. Do not treat a remote-parking demonstration or an assistance label as permission to leave the car responsible for a manoeuvre.

Before ordering, ask which local workshop will diagnose the vehicle, what roadside assistance applies and how warranty and service conditions attach to the specific car. Request the written vehicle and battery coverage, degradation conditions, exclusions and any servicing needed to activate an extended benefit. We have not established comparative repair times, parts availability, fault rates or insurance premiums for the revised Long Range and Engage. A longer headline warranty or more equipment does not prove a better ownership outcome.

What would make me choose each one

I would choose the New G6 Long Range if its confirmed equipment meets the family’s needs, its delivered quote works and its documented range and charging proposition solves a real journey requirement. I would not sign on the assumption that every comfort item in the marketing page is standard, or that a twelve-minute charging claim is available at every stop.

I would choose ARIYA Engage if its demonstrated fabric-seat cabin, controls and support proposal suit you better, with a written answer on the fitted AC charger and an acceptable complete price. If heated seats, a surround camera or a powered lid are requirements, confirm the grade that supplies them before comparing money. If neither order makes the equipment and charging hardware clear, settle those items before choosing. Other Australian guides can help if that changes your shortlist.

Current Australian versions, with the gaps left visible

Sources were checked on 20 October 2026 UTC: XPENG’s current New G6 model page, selected Long Range configurator and finance conditions, plus Nissan’s current Engage specification and linked brochure. The older brochure’s date and its AC difference from the current webpage remain explicit; the current trade channels do not prove allocation or delivery. A model-page image does not establish the quoted build’s standard equipment.

This is document-based buying guidance, without our own combined road, charge or loading test. We use the revised 80.8 kWh G6 rather than transferring another generation’s battery or road impressions. Individual driveaway prices, optional equipment and the Engage’s actual onboard AC charger remain open until the supplier identifies them in a car-specific proposal.

Questions to settle before ordering

Is this the older 87.5 kWh G6 Long Range?
No. The selected current Australian New G6 configurator describes RWD Long Range with an 80.8 kWh gross LFP battery, 218 kW and 525 km WLTP. Older-generation specifications or test results are not transferred.
Does ARIYA Engage have 7.4 or 22 kW AC charging?
The current Engage webpage says 22 kW as a Launch Offer, while the linked August 2025 brochure lists 7.4 kW. Obtain written identification of the actual fitted charger and eligibility conditions; this comparison does not resolve it by assumption.
Are all the G6’s advertised luxury-seat features included in A$56,800?
That is not established. The model page qualifies features as optional or market-dependent, and the configurator has premium-seat selections. Match the exact equipment and options to the saved configuration and delivered quote.
Does the 2.88% comparison rate describe the advertised three-year loan?
The offer has a maximum three-year term, but its stated comparison-rate illustration uses A$30,000 over five years. Its warning says other terms, amounts and fees can change the result; obtain the actual contract schedule.
