New G6 Long Range vs Enyaq Select 60 MY27: Australian family trips and charging

G6 has the stronger declared range and rapid-charge case. Compare the MY27 Enyaq base cabin, optional Signature equipment and complete Australian driveaway terms before choosing.

G6 for frequent charging stops; Enyaq when the base car already works

Put New G6 RWD Long Range first when your family regularly takes longer trips and can use suitable high-power chargers: its declared combined range and rapid-charge session give it the stronger documentary case for that task. Put Enyaq Select 60 MY27 first when its actual cabin and load space suit you, most charging happens during a long home dwell and the completed offer is attractive. You do not need to buy the largest charging number for a school-run car that replenishes overnight.

These are two rear-drive Australian electric SUVs, but the attractive online amounts are not yet matched driveaway quotations. The Enyaq is the new MY27 LFP Select 60, not the earlier MY26 car in a finance promotion. Before deciding, map one real family journey and try the base cars with your normal passengers and luggage. Either can fail that exercise despite a persuasive brochure.

New G6 Long Range and Enyaq MY27 are precise specifications

XPENG's current Australian configurator has an exact RWD Long Range detail card with an 80.8 kWh gross LFP battery, 218 kW rear motor and standard 20-inch wheels. It is not the earlier G6 Long Range with different battery hardware or the current Performance. The live configuration route establishes an Australian offering, but does not establish a build month, allocated vehicle or delivery slot for this household. Confirm the supplied configuration rather than using a review of a different generation.

Škoda's linked MY27 sheet lists Select 60 with 61 kWh gross and 58 kWh net LFP capacity, 140 kW and rear-wheel drive. The other Enyaq columns have different batteries, motors and charge ratings. Do not transfer the Sportline 85's specifications to Select. A current MY27 price and stock-search link likewise remain separate from a retailer committing a particular vehicle and delivery date.

A$56,800 and A$55,990 are different kinds of reference

The exact XPENG RWD Long Range card shows A$56,800. The captured reference does not close the tax, on-road and delivered inclusions for your location, so this article does not label it a completed driveaway price. Do not use the adjacent Performance amount or an earlier-generation promotional price to fill that gap. Ask for the specific Long Range, paint, registration, delivery charges and all required accessories in one itemised proposal.

The MY27 Enyaq sheet itself advertises Select 60 from A$55,990 driveaway. Its manufacturer recommended driveaway price is an estimate including private registration, CTP, estimated dealer delivery, stamp duty and applicable statutory charges. It applies to eligible new vehicles sold and delivered by 31 December 2026, while stocks last; location and individual circumstances can change the amount. The separate A$54,990 MY26 finance example does not price this MY27 car. Compare two delivered proposals for the same location and registration before claiming a saving.

Compare combined range and the same 10-80% window

XPENG declares 525 km combined WLTP for RWD Long Range on its specified 20-inch wheels. Select 60 MY27 declares 431 km combined WLTP. The Enyaq's separate 554 km city number is not a substitute in this comparison. The larger G6 declared combined figure gives it more planning headroom on paper, but does not promise a particular motorway distance with your family, luggage, weather and reserve. Neither number is a CathayEV Australian road-test result.

For rapid charging, XPENG declares up to 451 kW and 12 minutes from 10 to 80%; Škoda specifies up to 105 kW and about 26 minutes over the same percentage window. That is a meaningful source-level difference. The time depends on the appropriate charger, battery state and conditions, however. Peak power is not the session average, the packs hold different amounts of energy, and these manufacturer sessions do not establish a guaranteed 14-minute saving on each stop.

Make the route and the overnight dwell do the work

Start with the longer trip you actually repeat. Locate compatible chargers, check access hours and alternatives, and leave reserve for an occupied or unavailable site. If the regular route has suitable high-power stops, G6's declared capability deserves weight. If the only convenient stop supplies much less power, do not assume the headline 12-minute session will appear there. We have not observed charger queues, a matching charge curve or either car's charging behaviour on that route.

Both selected specifications list 11 kW AC. That is an onboard capability, not a promise that a household has that supply. XPENG's example is 9.2 hours from 5 to 100%, while Škoda's is about 6.5 hours from 0 to 100% at 11 kW. Different packs and starting points make a simple faster-home-charge verdict unhelpful. Establish the household connection, usable charging dwell and expected daily replenishment instead. A comfortable overnight margin can make the rapid-charge difference much less important during an ordinary week.

Select means the base car, not a Signature-equipped demonstrator

The G6's selected card lists a surround-view parking system and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen. Check the supplied car and software: XPENG expressly warns that configuration can vary by production month. Driver assistance and parking features require supervision and do not establish autonomous driving, a safety winner or permission to use a function everywhere. Ask for a stationary demonstration of climate adjustment, demisting, phone connection and the reversing views you would use.

Enyaq Select's optional Signature Package includes Area View, head-up display, Canton audio, matrix headlights and powered driver adjustment with memory and massage. Those features cannot be included in the unoptioned base comparison merely because the demonstrator has them. If one of them is essential, request an equipped MY27 proposal and redo the price comparison. A manual seat or the standard parking arrangement may already be sufficient; decide after the actual task rather than paying for an option list without trying it.

Keep the passengers in the seats when testing luggage

XPENG declares 571 litres behind the rear seats and 1,374 litres with them folded. Škoda declares 585 and 1,710 litres VDA. A common measurement method with XPENG was not established, so the small seats-up numerical difference does not prove that Enyaq carries your pram better. Nor does a folded-seat total answer a holiday with the rear seats occupied. A differently shaped opening, floor or case can matter more than a headline number.

Bring the same pram, bags or dog crate to each car, retain the passenger positions you need and check that the tailgate closes. Fit the actual child restraints and set the front seat for the taller regular driver. Try access, rear ventilation and space for the charging cable as well as the main load. This article does not establish that three particular child seats fit or that either car has better ride comfort. Those are demonstrations and checks still to make.

Choose from the repeated trip and the complete car

Choose New G6 Long Range when the actual family fit works and its larger declared combined range and rapid-charge capability are useful on your repeated longer journeys. Choose Enyaq Select 60 MY27 when its base cabin, loading and ordinary charging routine do the job well enough that you do not need the G6 capability or the optional Signature equipment. If you do need those Enyaq options, compare the complete equipped proposal before deciding that the headline makes it cheaper.

This is Australian documentary research checked on 21 October 2026. Both current official specifications and the Enyaq MY27 price conditions were read; no CathayEV road, charging, luggage or reliability test is claimed. The existing local model comparison establishes a cross-shopping relationship, not a road test of these exact two current versions. There is no matched repair-time, insurance or resale forecast here. Confirm the actual vehicle and local support arrangements, or consider other Australian buying guides if neither meets the task.

Questions before buying the current G6 or Select 60

Which Enyaq Select 60 is used here?
Australian MY27 Select 60: 61 kWh gross and 58 kWh net LFP, 140 kW rear-wheel drive, 431 km combined WLTP and 105 kW maximum DC. It is not the MY26 car in the separate finance offer.
Does G6 guarantee a 12-minute stop in Australia?
No. The manufacturer declares 10-80% in 12 minutes under its applicable conditions with suitable charging equipment. Actual battery, charger and environmental conditions affect the result.
Is Enyaq A$810 cheaper driveaway?
That is not established. XPENG shows A$56,800 with the delivered inclusions still to confirm; MY27 Enyaq is advertised from A$55,990 estimated MRDP with conditions. Obtain two itemised delivered proposals.
Does base Select include Area View and a powered memory driver seat?
Those features are in the optional Signature Package in the MY27 sheet. Do not include them in the base price or assume a demonstrator represents the unoptioned car.
Which range figure should be used for the comparison?
Use the declared combined WLTP references: G6 525 km on its specified 20-inch wheels and Enyaq Select 60 MY27 431 km. Enyaq 554 km city is a different part of the test cycle, and none is a guaranteed loaded motorway distance.
