Leapmotor B05 vs B10 (UK 2026): hatchback value or SUV space?

Leapmotor (零跑汽车, HKEX: 9863) is a publicly listed Chinese EV maker with a significant difference from most rivals: Stellantis holds a 20 per cent stake and manages European distribution through a joint venture. In July 2026 Leapmotor became the first Chinese new-force brand to exceed 100,000 monthly deliveries, and its H1 2026 gross margin reached 15 per cent — the first sustained positive margin in the company's history. For UK buyers weighing an eight-year battery warranty against an unfamiliar badge, those numbers matter. Both the B05 and the B10 carry identical warranty terms and come from the same Leapmotor factory. Neither has LiDAR or City NOA — those features exist in China-market models such as the A05 and A10, but the UK export range is intentionally stripped back. The brand-survival risk for both cars is the same: low.

Prices checked 6 October 2026: Leapmotor's current UK website lists B05 from £28,995 and B10 from £32,495, each including a £1,500 LEAP-GRANT. The saving applies to qualifying private retail orders through 31 December 2026; fleet, business and Motability sales are excluded. Confirm the actual car, delivery terms and written quote with the retailer. The B10's £29,995 launch price is an older offer, so the two cars are no longer near-identical money.

Both UK cars have the same stated usable battery capacity and LFP chemistry. Their WLTP range figures differ, but this is not evidence of an NMC-versus-LFP advantage. Follow each car's handbook for routine charging; this comparison does not establish a daily 80% or 100% rule.

The manufacturer gives 30–80% charging times for both cars. Do not compare those figures with a review's 10–80% time or treat peak kW as sustained speed. Both cars are rear-wheel drive with 160 kW motors. The B05's quicker claimed acceleration does not by itself prove that it is the more engaging car on every road. Top Gear describes a comfortable, softly tuned hatchback and flags intrusive active safety technology. Test steering, ride and assistance behaviour on the routes you actually use.

The B10 has the larger boot: 430 litres against 345. Its taller body is the practical reason to compare it with the B05, but published litres cannot tell you whether a particular pushchair or child seat fits. The B05's previously quoted 474-litre boot and 40-litre frunk were incorrect for this UK comparison.

The B05 is the starting shortlist for a buyer who does not need an SUV: it currently costs less and has the longer WLTP range. The B10 earns its extra cost when its taller body and bigger boot solve a real family-space need. This is our buying judgement, not a road-test result.
