How much range should you plan around?

Start with the WLTP figure for your exact UK trim. Explore two fixed planning assumptions, then allow a reserve and backup charging.

The 85% and 70% scenarios are fixed planning assumptions applied to WLTP, not measured bounds. They are not weather data; route, speed and temperature are not modelled.

With 100% starting charge and a 15% arrival reserve, 85% of the assumed battery range is available. Your 150-mile journey fits both planning scenarios at this charge.

Calculated from unrounded scenario range and usable state of charge. Not a route prediction or guaranteed range.

Bars share a 0-450 mi scale. Actual range can fall outside these calculated scenarios. Allow for route conditions and check backup charging.

Charging speed is a separate decision

This estimator plans distance and arrival reserve from a UK WLTP figure. Our film explains why a five-minute charging demonstration depends on the car, battery, charging window and station. Check the exact UK version and the route you would use before applying a headline charging time to your journey.

How this is worked out

We apply two fixed planning factors to the UK WLTP input: 85% and 70%. For example, 300 miles × 70% = 210 miles. These are illustrative calculations, not an MG4 or B05 road test, weather data or physical range bounds. The tool does not model route, speed or temperature. Journey distance and charge reserve are applied separately using unrounded values.

Comparing MG4 EV with B05? Match the market, model year, trim and test cycle first. A common multiplier cannot establish a range winner. Look for tests on comparable routes, note starting and arrival charge, and check a backup charging stop.
